What Is Walking Soccer?
Walking Soccer is a low-impact, team-based exercise, utilizing defined rules that are similar in nature to regular soccer. The game is a non-contact sport with the players ‘always having one foot on the ground’. Walking Soccer aims to provide participants physical & mental health benefits, social contentedness and promotes the benefits of ongoing physical activity.
Who Can Play?
Walking Soccer is exactly as the name suggests - you play soccer, walking. Usually aimed at people over 60 years old, this inclusive, fun and sociable 5-a-side version of the game is slower-paced than what FIFA offers, but lacks none of the passion or excitement of the original game.
What Are The Rules?
In Walking Soccer, running is not allowed. It is a non-contact version of the game, so tackles are not allowed. The ball cannot be kicked above head high height and there is no heading of the soccer ball. There are no 'referees' as such and the competitive angle is kept to a minimum. The focus is on having fun, making friends and getting exercise and being active.
